John has been in public service for more than 40 years, and for 20 years directed the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources.  He managed Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund allocations for protecting and enhancing natural resources.
  Robby Callahan Schreiber, First Vice Chair
Robby is youth program manager for the Science Museum of Minnesota’s Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center. Robby was a Conservation Corps Summer Youth Program crew leader and coordinator for four years and has held several teaching positions in environmental education for high school and undergraduate students.

John Lilly, Second Vice Chair
John has served Minnesota State Parks for 15 years, currently as legislative and human resource manager. Previously, he was program coordinator for the Department of Natural Resources Trails & Waterways and founded the Minneapolis Inner-City Women’s Fast-pitch Program.

Barbara Sommer, Secretary
Barbara has been an oral historian for 30 years. She authored, Hard Work and a Good Deal: The Civilian Conservation Corps in Minnesota, published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press. The book has won several awards including a  2009 Minnesota Book Award. Barbara helped found the Oral History Association of Minnesota and the Nebraska Foundation for the Preservation of Oral History.

Jer Jian Koh, Treasurer
Jer Jian, a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor is an audit supervisor with Boyum & Barenscheer PLLP, working primarily with nonprofits.  A  native of Malaysia, she moved to Minnesota 14 years ago.



Paul Bergstrom
Paul is a Conservation Corps alumnus who served as a Bemidji field crew member in 2004 and crew leader in 2005 and 2006. Currently he is studying civil engineering with a focus on environmental engineering at the University of Minnesota. Paul has volunteered with Mississippi hurricane and Iowa flood relief efforts and for the Minnesota Literacy Council as a math tutor.

Neil Cunningham
is the technical editor for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resource’s County Geologic Atlas Program, an adjunct faculty member with Capella University’s Writing Program and a writing consultant for the Writing Center at the Navy War College. He works with insect biological control for the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and gives presentations on organic insect management, native pollinators and urban biodiversity.

David Hile
David spent his career in law enforcement, including U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals bailiff and Hennepin County jail administrator and probation officer. His father served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s.

Anna is senior marketing manager for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Minnesota Chapter. She has served in marketing and communication positions with Special Olympics Minnesota, Utne magazine, the Northern Lighthouse Board of Scotland and as a freelance writer and Web consultant. She is a volunteer mentor with Special Olympics Minnesota's Athlete Leadership Programs, working with people with intellectual disabilities to become leaders and advocates through public speaking. Anna is also conversant in American Sign Language.

Michael Nevala
Michael is principal environmental scientist for the Metropolitan Council. He has worked in various environmental, educational and conservation positions with the National Park Service, State of California and University of Minnesota. In the 1970s, he served in the California Conservation Corps in the Sierra Nevada mountains. All three of his children have participated in the Conservation Corps Summer Youth Program.

Mark is founder of the nonprofit, Mapping Your Retirement, and serves on the boards of the Metropolitan Board on Aging, Vital Aging Network, Senior Corps and Environmental Action Committee. For more than 30 years, he served in various 3M management positions.

Janet Timmerman
Janet current works as the education program coordinator at the History Center of Olmsted County in Rochester, Minn. In 1993, she served in the Minnesota Conservation Corps and worked on flood recovery in the aftermath of Upper Mississippi floods. In the late 1990’s, she served on the Youth Corps Advisory Council in Minnesota and later on the Friends of the Minnesota Conservation Corps board. Her son served in the former MCC’s summer youth and young adult programs.
