The Minnesota Conservation Corps (MCC) is recruiting a Work Project Coordinator for its Summer Youth Program at St. Croix State Park near Hinckley, MN. The Work Project Coordinator (WPC) is responsible for developing, scheduling, and implementing work projects for the summer program. The WPC supervises up to sixteen Crew Leaders and is responsible for tool and vehicle inventory and checkout. The WPC is responsible for the training of staff and youth in the following areas: hand tool use, carpentry, conservation work projects, positive work ethics, worksite safety, vehicle use, and reporting of work accomplished. It is the WPC's responsibility to schedule work projects, arrange for proper equipment for projects, assist in the selection of staff and corpsmember assignments, track accomplishments of crews, and repair broken or damaged tools. As required, the Work Project Coordinator assists the site director in the day-to-day operations of the camp. This is an on-site live-in position.
LOCATION: St. Croix State Park, Hinckley, MN
QUALIFICATIONS: A considerable knowledge of human relations skills is important. The WPC must have experience in and knowledge of supervising crew leaders to complete work projects in a safe, efficient, and high quality manner. She/he must have the skills necessary to give constructive criticism and administer discipline. Considerable knowledge of tools, chainsaws and safety equipment is necessary as is a technical understanding of conservation work projects. Oral and written communication and public relations skills are essential for this position. The WPC must be motivated and organized, and must have good time management skills. A valid driver’s license is required. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) will perform background checks before offers of employment are made.
BENEFITS: Up to $400 per week, depending on experience, plus room & board. An AmeriCorps Education Award of $2362.50. Staff will receive Wilderness First Aid certification.
