The Minnesota Conservation Corps (MCC) is recruiting for Assistant Directors for its Summer Youth Program at St. Croix State Park near Hinckley, MN. This is a live-in position. Assistant Directors are responsible for providing leadership to the staff and youth participants of the program. The assistant directors are responsible for meeting the MCC goals of accomplishing quality work for sponsor agencies, preparing youth with life and work skills, and assuring effective and positive education. The assistant directors report directly to the site director. The assistant directors are responsible for assisting in the following areas: development of staff and youth trainings, public relations, corpsmember development, discipline of youth and staff, work project development, overall health and safety of participants, written reports, supervision and evaluation of staff, and other duties. This is a fast paced position where high amounts of energy and enthusiasm are needed.

LOCATION: St. Croix State Park, Hinckley, MN

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have at least two years supervisory experience with youth, preferably in an on-the-job training setting. Experience working in a residential conservation work program is highly desirable. Must demonstrate ability to provide strong leadership for a dynamic program. The candidate must be mature and able to motivate staff and youth under strenuous work assignments. They must have knowledge of supervision, organization, and team building; must have strong communication skills to work with and train youth and other staff. Candidates must be able to do outdoor physical labor, including repetitive bending and lifting of 20 pounds or more and carrying 50 pounds or more over uneven terrain. A valid driver's license and good driving record are required. First aid and CPR certification is required. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) will conduct background checks before offers of employment are made.

BENEFITS: Up to $400 per week, depending on experience, plus room and board during program season. An AmeriCorps Education Award of $2362.50. Staff will receive Wilderness First Aid certification.
