Maggie Barnick

Youth Outdoors Assistant Program Manager

Adventurous. Dependable. Flexible.

Maggie helps manage our Youth Outdoors program. She assists with recruitment, hiring and training AmeriCorps members and youth, program planning, project management and crew support. She served three terms in AmeriCorps, two of which were in the Conservation Corps’ Youth Outdoors Program.

Prior to joining our staff, Maggie received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management, focusing on environmental education and forestry. She has gained professional experience through the Minnesota GreenCorps program and with the City of Saint Paul as a Natural Resources Technician.

Maggie brings expertise in forestry, ornithology, planning and plant identification. She also has extensive experience in volunteer management. She has helped run a long-term volunteer program called EcoStewards and began a new program called Seed Squad. Maggie enjoys working with people to help them find their passions and watch them grow.

Outside of the Corps, she likes to spend time with family and be outdoors. She enjoys hiking, birding, canoeing, camping and traveling- either up north to her family’s hunting property on the iron range, or to a new national park (she is trying to visit them all!).
