Crews improve North Shore overlooks

Gooseberry Falls and Tettegouche State Parks on the North Shore offer spectacular views of Lake Superior, waterfalls and wildlife ― a nature lover’s paradises. This fall, Duluth and Moose Lake crews helped park staff build and improve observation decks for visitors who flock to the area annually for hiking and site seeing.

For four weeks, Conservation Corps crews have excavated and poured new concrete footings, drilled and secured anchors, constructed decks and installed handrails. “They are doing an awesome job,” says Paul Sundberg, Gooseberry Falls State Park manager. “Their carpentry work is as good as any.” Park staff hope to have the decks completed before winter.
