CCC Statue Project

MCC considers itself the grandchild of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and proudly follows the legacy left by their work and lasting contributions.

MCC and the Minnesota Chapters of CCC Alumni raise are raising funds to place a statue in honor of those who served in the "C's".

Current donations stand at $20,500. Thank you to everyone who has donated!

June 1995: First statue dedicated in front of the CCC Museum in Michigan

February 2001: Legislation was brought before the Minnesota House and Senate to appropriate funds to erect the statue. The bill did not pass.

October 2004: MCC offers to assist Chapter 33 with the statue campaign. Donation requests begin.

October 2005: CCC Chapter 33 Executive Council voted to place the statue on the State Capitol Grounds.

December 2005: MCC’s Len Price and Rolf Hagberg had a preliminary meeting with the Minnesota Capitol Architecture and Planning Board (CAAP) regarding placing a statue on the capitol grounds. The idea approved by the first committee and was forwarded to the next committee. The idea now has to pass a meeting with three technical architects.

January 2006: An article appeared in the St. Paul Pioneer Press regarding the CCC and the statue campaign. Donations have been arriving regularly in response to the article.

October 2006: MCC and CCC representatives appeal to the Capitol Area Architecturual Planning Board to place the statue on the Minnesota Capitol Grounds. The request was denied, although a new site will be selected in the near future.
