Alumni: Where are they now?

Dirk Peterson, a Youth Conservation Corps alumnus who served in northern Minnesota, Dirk Petersonhas been named the Minnesota DNR Fisheries Chief. “Citizen and agency interview panel members were impressed by Dirk’s depth of knowledge, breadth of experience and vision for serving the anglers and citizens of Minnesota,” says Dave Schad, DNR Fish and Wildlife division director.

A record start for the Corps

In February, Conservation Corps Minnesota & Iowa enrolled a record 150 field crew members, more than a 50 percent increase over last year.  Corpsmembers (ages 18-25) will serve 10-month AmeriCorps terms. This year, northwest district crews are based in Bemidji, Park Rapids, Brainerd and Fergus Falls; northeast district crews are in Grand Rapids, Eveleth, Tofte,  Duluth and Moose Lake; central crews are in the metro area, southern crews are in Marshall, Windom, Mankato and Rochester and Iowa crews are based in Ames.
